SUMMARY

Objective of this VHV work was to operate projects and activities of mother’s milk feeding to child at Tambon Na Yong Nue, Na Yong district, Trang province, 2009-2014. It was appeared that a series of projects conveyed to reproductive women, pregnant women, and postpartum women and child, had been achieved continuously, e.g. parent power against crisis (2009), self-preparation before marriage (2009), from mom’s heart to child’s mind (2010), Thai child and beloved net (2010), palm cards and beloved net (2011), mother’s love to child and family (2011), exercise for three people groups (2011), mother willing to community (2012), and parents’ school to handle pregnant women (2013). In addition, continuous activities had been performed such as surveying of pregnant women, visiting postpartum women and child, convincing mother to feed her child with her milk for at least 6 months, and referral processing of postpartum women. A process of knowledge transferring in mother-child health care, had been also conducted to students (10-15 year old), and reproductive women under 20-year old. In conclusion, reproductive women, pregnant women, and postpartum women and child, have been handled in self-preparation and realization for the significance of mother’s milk feeding to child, and number of its feeding was found to be enhanced, covering the whole community.

SITUATION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROBLEM

Tambon Na Yong Nue, Na Yong district, Trang province, is a medium-sized community, in which most villagers have taken their careers as farmers of rubber trees, and various merchandisers. Due to competitive life styles, trend of mother’s milk feeding to child, and duration of feeding time (acceptable duration is 6 months), has been shown to be declined consistently. The author as a village health volunteer (VHV) and an officer at health care center for three agers, Na Yong district hospital, inspired herself to drive a varieties of projects and activities of mother’s milk feeding to child toward reproductive women, pregnant women, and postpartum women and child. This aimed to improve their capability in health care, and increase feeding rate of mother’s milk to child.

FRAMEWORK(S) /SCOPE

Projects and activities had been operated at Tambon Na Yong Nue, Na Yong district, Trang province, between 2009 and 2014.

OBJECTIVE(S)

The work of promoting and supporting of mother’s milk feeding to child projects, aimed to improve health and life quality of reproductive women, pregnant women, and postpartum women and child.

PROCEDURE

Planning was held following community committee in collaboration with Tambon Na Yong Nue legislative authority, health care center for three agers (Na Yong district hospital), community’s leaders, and school directors and teachers.


Action ; The author displayed himself as a projects’ leader, and a key organizer with other local leaders, authorities and sectors.

ASSESSMENT

Projects and activities of mother’s milk feeding to child at Tambon Na Yong Nue, Na Yong district, Trang province, that had been done effectively within the community.

Out-Puts

Out-Comes
• Individuals related in mother’s milk feeding to child such as reproductive women, pregnant women, and postpartum women and child, have been taken in health care, and handled in self-preparation and realization for the significance of mother’s milk feeding to child. Number of the mother’s milk feeding was found to be enhanced progressively within the community, enabling their improvement for better health status and life quality.

FACTORS EFFECTING ITS SUCCESSFULNESS
