SUMMARY

Good health behavior is concerned as an important health recommendation to be promoted via people. Objective of this project was due to holistic health promotion to provide good health behaviors via villagers of Tambon Chiew Liang, Ka Per district, Ranong province. VHVs teams and all other community sectors were convinced to share their collaborative activities. Public consortium enabled the community’s promise to move its health promotion campaign in 2013. A varieties of innovation such as community vegetables for health, bank of body weight measurement, foot massage canteen, and mobile health office, were invented to serve community. It was shown that new incidences of chronic diseases such as diabetic and hypertension had been found to be decreased, comparing to the year 2012 and 2011. Villagers’ health behaviors have been changed to be well developed following exercises, eating behaviors, and other indicators measured such as BMI, waist circumstance, etc.

SITUATION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROBLEM

Health behavior is a significant concept that will be conveyed to people to carry out as their usual habit. Likely other communities, incidence of chronic diseases (e.g. diabetic, hypertension) and inappropriate health behaviors, had been stated as the villagers’ problems of Moo 7, Baan Chon Nimit, Tambon Chiew Liang, Ka Per district, Ranong province. All these problems affected directly to their life quality as well as their expense in medical treatment. Holistic health promoting project derived after the community consortium promised, however, would be the answer to fix or decrease these problems.

FRAMEWORK(S) /SCOPE

To contribute the project within the area of Moo 7, Baan Chon Nimit, Tambon Chiew Liang, Ka Per district, Ranong province, in 2013.

OBJECTIVE(S)

To implement holistic health promoting project to change health behaviors among villagers of Moo 7, Baan Chon Nimit, Tambon Chiew Liang, Ka Per district, Ranong province.

PROCEDURE

Planning and Working Team ; Community’s consortium launched by volunteers village health, community’s leaders, representative from Tambon health insurance fund, and villagers, lead to community’s promise to carry out the project.

Health Promoting Innovations Folk innovations such as vegetables for health, bank of body weight measurement, foot massage canteen, and mobile health office, were introduced to use in this project.

Action VHVs Teams assigned each responsibility among them to convince villagers to get exercises program, how to grow edible vegetables and consumption, measurement of BMI and waist circumstance, screening of chronic diseases (diabetic and hypertension), etc.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment Criteria :  All health promoting activities (e.g. exercise, vegetable consumption, etc.), incidence of chronic diseases (e.g. diabetic, hypertension) and activities on the assessment of BMI, waist circumstance and others, were use in this work.

Out-Puts ;  Bank of body weight measurement; from 81 members participated a six-month activity, resulted in body weight decrease of 34 (41.9%), unchanged of 36 (44.4%) and increase of 11 (25.0%). • Other health promoting activities such as foot massage canteen, edible vegetables for health, and mobile health office, have been carried out in the project.

Out-Comes ;  Well health behaviors have been continuously implemented via people of the community, resulting in the improvement of health status, attitude and life quality. Villagers and all sectors of the community have been convinced as stakeholder for health promoting campaign, and satisfied for its out-comes for the community.

FACTORS EFFECTING ITS SUCCESSFULNESS

Author MRS.CRUEWAN SONGKRAM, deserved herself as a village health volunteer since 2004, and provided continuous helpful activity to her community, and leaders of several public organizations, is a key point to success.
